An image of the alley cat mascot for the new Alley Cat Bar & Grill hangs in a window at the restaurant on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at 871 Broadway Ave., the former home of White Squirrel Brewery. The layout is unchanged, but burgundy walls, low lighting and the soft sounds of jazz or blues now set the tone of The Alley Kat Bar and Lounge, the newest watering hole on 'The Island' in Midtown. Inconspicuous, yes. But Marcus Davis and Kory Hinton’s nightlife concept, The Alley Kat Bar and Lounge is one of those places you’ll love discovering. Located on Mid-Main near hotspots like the Continental Club and Double Trouble, Alley Kat has sort of a speakeasy vibe with low lighting, rich woods and smooth jazz. The spot was formerly The Mink, and that sign still hangs outside.
